HiStand
Milerd HiStand is a compact personal radiation detector designed to monitor ambient radiation levels in everyday environments.
It measures gamma radiation and X-rays and displays results in real time in µSv/h (microsieverts per hour), a standard unit for radiation exposure. Since background radiation can vary by location, readings should be interpreted using standard reference tables and public safety guidelines.
HiStand provides continuous monitoring of your surroundings, tracks accumulated exposure over time, and alerts you when predefined thresholds are exceeded.
Important: HiStand measures radiation levels, but does not identify the source or radioactive isotope and does not replace professional or emergency equipment. If you suspect a radiation-related incident, contact official authorities or emergency services.

How do I detect radiation?
Geiger counters are commonly used to measure the amount of radioactivity, but there are other types of detectors that may be used. Portal monitors can screen large numbers of people for contamination.
What can a Geiger counter not detect?
Most of us have heard or seen a Geiger counter. They are the least expensive electronic device that can tell you there is radiation around you—though it can't tell you the original source of the radiation, what type it is or how much energy it has.
What are the different types of Geiger counters?
At PCE Instruments, you will find three types of geiger counter or raditation detection devices to help you measure radioactivity:
1) Alpha radioactivity meters
2) Meters for detecting alpha, beta and gamma radioactivity
3) Radioactivity meters for human beings
What is unsafe on a Geiger counter?
Normal background radiation is around 0.1 mrem/hour or 1 μSv/hour. A level of 100 mrem/hour or 1,000 μSv/hour is considered high and potentially dangerous if sustained over a period of time. However, immediate danger to human health starts at about 100,000 mrem/hour or 1,000,000 μSv/hour.
